It seems like there is a fee for just about everything these days.  Whether it's some little obscure thing added to your monthly bills or taking money out of your account, you can sure bet that you'll be charged for it.  It drives me crazy!

A new survey asked people what little fees they disliked paying the most.  Parking fees came in at #1 and things like overdraft charges, hidden cell phone fees and automatic gratuity also made the Top 5.

I want to go on a little rant about the one that came in at #2 and that's ATM fees.  They are ridiculously high.  While on a day trip to Nisswa this past weekend I went to a restaurant that only took checks and cash.  I totally understand them not wanting to give the card issuer a portion of the sale.  I can't tell you the last time I wrote a check and I didn't have any with me so that wasn't going to happen.

My only option was the ATM, which didn't belong to my bank of course.  I despise paying to take my money out, I think it's ridiculous.  I would be a little more accepting if it hadn't cost me $5 to do it.  I guess what I'm saying is I understand you might have to charge me something, but $5, seriously?  I guess the lesson here is to have a little cash on you at all times.

Back in the day, my bank used to refund ATM fees up to $5.  Here's to hoping they're still up for doing that.

Which little fees irritate you the most?
