Granger Smith hasn't always been proud of his Halloween costume choices — in fact, one year, he admits he really embarrassed himself. Smith recently came to the ToC Nights Studio and got real with us about that awful costume from his past.

When asked  which Halloween costume is the most embarrassing he's ever worn, Smith doesn't stop to think. He immediately recalls that Elvis costume from his high school days.

“I was Elvis one time and I got the — and this was in high school — It was one of those outfits you get from the party store and they’re like paper thin,” the singer says, adding, " ... So that Elvis thing didn’t do very good for me.”

The costume wasn't just too thin in all the wrong places, it was also solid gold. So did a lady get to admire the less-than-flattering getup?

Nope.

“I was probably single,” he laughs.

Thankfully, the "Backroad Song" singer was also a football player, so that upped his cool status. Before signing a record deal with BBR, Smith pursued a degree at Texas A&M, dropping out early to chase his musical dreams. He did go back and graduate, however, before hitting the road yet again. Now, "Backroad Song" — his debut single on BBR's Wheelhouse imprint — is one of the hottest songs in the country and rising.
