Gov. Dayton Declares Today ‘Prince Day’ in Minnesota
With Prince’s death exactly one year ago today (damn, time flies) Governor Mark Dayton has declared today ‘Prince Day’ in Minnesota to honor the life of the native musician. Prince died of an accidental opioid overdose on April 21st, 2016.
In addition to memorial celebrations at First Avenue in Minneapolis and his Paisley Park home in Chanhassen, the new I-35 bridge over the Mississippi in Minneapolis will be lit in purple.
I’ll never forget seeing Prince on his Purple Rain tour at the St. Paul Civic Center in the 80s. It was awesome. Rest in peace Prince Rogers Nelson.
