The New York City firehouse featured in the movie 'Ghostbusters' may soon be shut down due to budget cuts, according to the NY Post.

Ladder No. 8 in TriBeCa is among 20 New York fire stations Mayor Mike Bloomberg has put on the chopping block.

In 'Ghostbusters,' Ladder No. 8 played the role of the retired firehouse where Venkman, Stanz and Stangler set up their iconic paranormal investigating business.

So while the real-life retiring of Ladder No. 8 isn't such a good thing for TriBeCa residents, it's impending availability provides an amazing opportunity for any up-and-coming paranormal investigators.

In other Ghostbusters news, Ghostbusters 3 is set to start filming soon with a 2012 or 2013 wide release to theaters. 98 Country's movie guy John Clark told me that Bill Murray was the last Ghostbuster hold out to sign on for the movie. The new Ghostbusters film will include the entire original cast including Rick Moranis who has been retired for several years now.
