If you're planning on watching the game on Sunday, you're not alone. Since today is Gourmet Guess day, I figured I would explore some fun facts about our favorite football foods.

Are you a fan of chicken wings? Turns out we will eat literally a billion chicken wings on Sunday. We will eat 1.25 billion chicken wings during the game. It’s the most popular football food. Along with wings goes some sort of dipping sauce. It used to be bleu cheese was the standard, but according to a study done by National Chicken Council, 57 percent of us will eat our 1.25 billion chicken wings with ranch dressing. This is no shock for me. I eat ranch dressing on everything.  Roughly one in three of us will eat our wings with bleu cheese.

This Sunday is also a huge day for pizza. The National Restaurant Association says that the first Sunday in February where the two teams play for the trophy is the number one busiest day for pizza delivery. Pizza Hut, Domino's and Papa John’s all say they deliver twice as many pizzas on the first Sunday in February where the two teams play for the trophy than they do any other day.

While most of us are munching on pizza and chicken wings, don’t forget the potato chips! Behind pizza and chicken wings, the third most popular “Big Game” snack is potato chips. We will eat 11 million pounds of chips on Sunday, and it turns out we love all things crunchy. We will also chomp on four million pounds of pretzels and 3.8 million pounds of popcorn. According to the Calorie Control Council, if you skip the butter on the popcorn, it’s one of the healthiest snacks you’ll eat all day.

Speaking of healthy, avocado is a very popular food on Sunday. According to the Haas Avocado Board, almost 70 million pounds of avocadoes are eaten while we watch that game where the two teams play for the trophy. Avocado is also known as a “super food” because they’re high in fiber and potassium and have been shown to reduce bad cholesterol. Problem is, they taste so good with tortilla chips which are high in fat and sodium.

Finally, what goes better with football than beer? Over 49 million cases of beer will be sold ahead of the first Sunday in February.

Seeing all of this, it’s no wonder that six percent of us call in sick the next day.

So, this is what all of us are eating. Do you ever wonder what folks at the game eat?

This year, it’s not going to be your typical stadium fare across the board for the fans heading to New Orleans. A catering company called Centerplate has been hired to feed the hungry fans. The company will have 100 chefs on hand to prepare the food and a thousand waiters and waitresses on hand to serve it.

We all know that food at stadiums and arenas isn’t cheap and at the game in the Super Dome this year, the cheapest thing on the menu is a small plate of nachos. Those are going to set you back $8 and for $8, they better come with jalapenos and a linen napkin. The most expensive thing on the menu is Gulf shrimp cocktail and that’s going to cost you $30.
