Well, now it’s cold but we’re still lacking a little when it comes to snow. Across Minnesota, snow events have been canceled this year. If you are eager to enjoy some snow related activity, this is the event for you. The 5th Annual Sons of Norway Barnelopet is a free children's Nordic fun ski event for Ages 3 to 13 this Sunday, January 22 at 1:00 p.m.

On site registration begins at 11:30 AM and free cross country (nordic) ski equipment will be provided by the MN Youth Ski League for those that need them until all ski equipment is lent out. All participants receive an Olympic style keepsake medal for this free event. We are hoping to get twice as many kids in 2012!

This event will once again be held at Riverside Park. The Riverside Park warming shelter is located at 1725 Kilian Blvd. SE, Saint Cloud, MN 56304 on the SE side of St. Cloud, across the river from Saint Cloud State University.

Hot chocolate, cookies, lefsa, krumkake, valffler (waffles) and rosettes will be provided!

You can visit with the real Vikings!

Free adult Nordic ski lessons are available at 11:30 a.m.

Once again the Sons of Norway lodges from St. Cloud, Trollheim 511, Anoka, Vennekretsen 559, and Moundsview, Fjell Syn 667 will be the three lodges sponsoring this event.

Come out and enjoy the little snow we have.
