1. Sign the back of the ticket right away! That way, nobody can steal it.

2. I know you want to shout it to the world, but try to resist. Tell only those very close to you. Or don't tell anyone. It depends on how many people you want knocking on your door asking for money for the rest of your life.

3. Don't start buying stuff immediately. Think it through. 44% of lottery winners blow through their entire winnings in the first year. That would be tough to do with 450 million bucks, but still think things through.

4. Hire smart people who know how to manage that kind of money. An estate planner, financial planner and an accountant. Hire them before you cash the ticket. You can afford it.
