Florida Georgia Line Is ‘Cruisin’
Florida Georgia Line recently stated that their popularity has blown their minds – and rightly so. With a Double Platinum hit and Gold-certified album, the duo that claimed New Artist of the Year at this year’s ACMs have been blowing a lot of minds. In fact, they’ve now re-written history by setting a new chart record in Billboard magazine.
FGL’s hit ‘Cruise’ just celebrated its 12th week at No. 1, breaking the record for the most chart-topping weeks for a song by a duo in the 69-year history of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, according to Billboard.
The song extends the list’s longest reign by any act since Buck Owens’s 16-week streak with ‘Love’s Gonna Live Here’ in 1963-64. In the world of duos, ‘Cruise’ surpasses records held by Carl Butler & Pearl, the Everly Brothers and the Davis Sisters. Now, that’s a big deal.
Some of their success can certainly be attributed to their popular crossover remix featuring rapper Nelly. However, their unrivaled stardom on the charts is most definitely a product of their talent. Everyone else in country music has noticed it too, as FGL are finishing up their trek with superstar Taylor Swift and will soon hit the road with Luke Bryan.
Here’s to the good times that Florida Georgia Line are experiencing, and here’s to many more that are in store for this hard-working duo.
