Let's be honest, Minnesota rocks!  We're the birthplace of more famous people than we can count, we're responsible for awesome inventions like the Post-It Note and we had the first shopping mall.  So, it's really no surprise that we can thank Minnesota for some of the most awesome foods ever!

There are several foods we can thank Minnesota for but these are some of the most popular and some of my favorites.

Spam

Perhaps one of the most popular foods to come out of Minnesota, Spam is a product of the Hormel plant in Austin, Minnesota. The canned tastiness made it's debut in 1937 and is now so popular, its hometown boasts a museum dedicated solely to Spam. The product also has a catchy theme song.

Salted Nut Rolls

These little rolls of salty, sweet goodness cannot be beat! The candy made it's debut from St. Paul in 1933 and was at one point called the Choo Choo Bar to distiguish it from the competition. Eventually it was changed back to Salted Nut Roll, which rolls off the tongue a little better.

Honeycrisp Apples

Honeycrisps are one of the most delicious apple flavors out there and were developed at the University of Minnesota. I think it would shock you to know that at one point, these little pieces of tastiness were going to be discarded.

Cheerios

I don't know about you, but I spent a lot of time eating these little rings of yumminess.
Especially with sugar on top! Cheerios is, of course, a product of Minnesota based General Mills. Who knew they were originally going to be called 'Cheerioats'?

Gedney Pickles

This is definitely my favorite of the bunch! I love pickles (like literally, I will sit and eat they right out of the jar!) and Gedney's jingle has been a staple in my mind since I was a kid! The company was founded in 1880 just down 94 in Minneapolis.
