ST. CLOUD -- There's been a lot of talk about cuts to the food stamp program as the Farm Bill is being negotiated in Congress. But, Assistant Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Matt Wohlman says there is much more to the bill that impacts Minnesotans.

Wohlman says it covers everything from renewable energy projects, to conservation, to farm subsidies and disaster assistance.

He says it's also directly tied to farmers and how they plan for the year ahead.

Wohlman says there is widespread belief the nutrition programs should remain in the Farm Bill and not be stripped out and passed separately as the U.S. House is proposing.

Committee members are currently negotiating the bill and there is no timetable for when Senate and House versions would got to conference committee to be negotiated and ultimately voted on.
