Eric Church Takes On Scalpers in Minneapolis
Eric Church doesn’t tolerate scalpers and he’s proving it in Minneapolis. In one week, over 14,000 tickets have sold for that particular show but it turns out nearly 1,000 were purchased by scalpers — and Church isn’t having it.
The Target Center in Minneapolis will have Church front and center for his show there on Sept. 16 and he wants to make sure the fans, not scalpers, have a chance to buy the tickets for the hottest seats. There are only a few tickets left for a popular area right behind the stage and they say it’s due to scalpers.
What’s a guy to do? Church and his team are taking action. They identified 902 tickets that were purchased by scalpers who had already met their ticket purchasing limit. Those tickets have now been cancelled and they’re going back on sale today (April 25) at 5 pm CT.
“A lot of acts just want to sell as many tickets as they can and they don’t care who they sell them to,” the anti-scalping artist explains. “I want my fans to be the ones who buy tickets to my shows, and I want scalpers to back off. I can’t stop ticket scalpers completely, but I can definitely make it harder for them.”
This isn’t the only show where the Church team is keeping an eye out for scalpers, they’ll be doing it for all of the Outsiders World Tour. Full tour dates for Church’s tour are listed here.
