Early Snow Fall Not What Farmers Were Hoping For [AUDIO]

ST. CLOUD -- Local farmers had an unexpected surprise when winter arrived early throughout Central Minnesota.

University of Minnesota Extension educator Dan Martens says some farmers were still waiting on their late planted crops and the snow will prevents their harvest.

With talks of single digit temperatures later this week it will reduce the chances of combines getting out in the fields.

Martens says one bright spot from the snow is that the ground wasn't frozen which may bring some moisture into the ground.

Martens says while the snow does make things a challenge farmers are not hitting the panic button just yet.

The recent snow fall could still mean a lost in yield for many farmers.
