Driving down through Bloomington this weekend was one of those times when I really wish I had a chauffeur.

I admit I'm a nervous driver when I'm not completely familiar with where I'm going. Getting to the Mall of America is a piece of cake but 494 is an absolute nightmare in that area. I had no problem getting down there, other than there are definitely some rude drivers. Heading home was a different story.

I had gone early so I could get in and get out. I left the mall around noon and on my way out there was some guy in a truck who would not get off my tail. As soon as he could, he whipped around me and gave me a dirty look. I have no idea what I did wrong, maybe he was just having a bad morning.

I made it back to 494 and was tooling around nicely by myself in the right lane. Staying in the right lane is more or less a way for me to try to avoid the people who like to whip around cars.

In the middle lane was a garbage truck and I cannot say for sure what happened but out of the corner of my eye I saw the truck drifting toward me.  As I look over a car was hit by the truck, the car went spinning out of control and eventually landed against wall in the wrong direction.  It was really scary!

I personally think that area is one of the worst to drive in Minnesota.  It's narrow, the speed limit is probably a bit too high and people are just impatient and rude. Needless to say, I won't be driving there on a weekend anymore unless I can get a driver to handle the stress for me.  I'll make my trips there Monday through Friday.
