It can happen to any of us at work, at any time of the day. If you're company doesn't have a workplace shooter plan then it may be time to bring it up.

It doesn't just happen at colleges and banks. Current and past employees can get disgruntled and sometimes common sense doesn't kick in with what's right and wrong. It's up to you to survive by any means possible in this situation. We don't like to think about it, but it's a must to have a plan if it were to happen at your workplace.

When the mass stabbing happened at Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud, it was hectic to say the least. I don't doubt that the mall security has a plan for these situations, but it took 9 people getting stabbed and an off-duty officer to stop the situation before it was over. Most workplaces don't have a security staff to protect them, so it's up to you to know what to do.

MNDOT has an "Active Shooter Training Program" and are happy to give your employer information on survival training. Download the PDF here that contains great information and topics to cover.
