Each Wednesday at 8 a.m. I join Pete and Cindy for Country Classic Flashback.  We take a trip down memory lane to highlight a country legend.  This Wednesday we are featuring Patricia Lynn Yearwood.

We all know her as Trisha Yearwood.  She made her leap to stardom in 1991 with the release of her hit debut single, She’s In Love with the Boy. In 1996 she hit #1 again with Believe Me Baby I Lied.  She become known as one of country music’s strongest vocalists in the 90’s.  She helped redefine the sound of country music in the 1990’s.

Trisha grew up in Monticello, Georgia.  After high school she moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University, where she majored in music business.  In 1987 she married Chris Latham and they divorced four years later.

She met Garth Brooks who promised that if he ever made it in the music business he would help her in any way he could.  In 1994 she married Robert Reynolds, a bass player for the Mavericks and they divorced in 1999.  She and her current husband Garth Brooks were close friends for years before they both hit it big in the 1990’s. Garth divorced his estranged wife Sandy in 2000 and married Trisha in 2005.

In April of 2008 she released her first cookbook co-written with her mother Gwen and her sister Beth.  She released a second cookbook in 2010 and she also has a show on the Food Network called Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.

Trisha has won three Grammy Awards, three Country Music Association Honors and had 19 Top Ten singles.
