Each Wednesday at 8 a.m. I join Cindy and Doug for Country Classic Flashback.  We take a trip down memory lane to highlight a country legend.  This week we are featuring Johnny Cash.

The legendary Johnny Cash was born February 26, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas.  As a child he worked the cotton fields and in 1954 he began his music career.  He maintained an active role in the music scene up until his death on September 12, 2003 at the age of 71.

He went on to be honored for his commanding position in music history through election to the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and as a recipient of the Grammy Legend Award.   His best known songs include I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire and the Man In Black.

Johnny was married twice, first to Vivian Liberto and then June Carter.  He has seven children including Roseanne and John,  who have followed in their father’s footsteps and become successful country stars.

Tune in today at 8 a.m. for the Country Classic Flashback, brought to you by Midwest Machinery East Highway 23 in Sauk Rapids with eight other locations around central MN.
