Twins Split With Texas
Kevin Correia continued to impress Sunday for a fifth straight start to help the Twins to a win over Texas.
The Twins topped the Texas Rangers 5-0 Sunday afternoon behind eight shutout innings from starting pitcher Kevin Correia. Minnesota is now 11-10 on the season and will play at Detroit Monday.
Chris Parmelee hit a sacrifice fly off of Texas starter Alexi Ogando in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie, then Justin Morneau hit his second home run of the year with Josh Willingham on base in the bottom of the sixth for a 3-0 Twins lead.
The Twins added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on Brian Dozier and Jamey Carroll RBI singles.
Kevin Correia lasted eight innings for Minnesota, allowing no runs on six singles with one walk and two strikeouts. The former Pirate has trimmed his ERA to 2.23 on the year.
