The St. John’s football team is looking for improvement on their 6-4 finish in 2011.  The Johnnies didn’t have stability at quarterback in 2011 but this season they appear to have that.  Connor Bruns has emerged as the starting quarterback and will start week one against Northwestern University Saturday at 1pm at Clemens Stadium.

The Johnnies return their top 2 running backs from 2011. Stephen Johnson led the Johnnies with 745 yards and 7 touchdowns and Nick Schneider ran for 248 yards and 3 touchdowns last season.

St. John’s expects big things from freshman receiver Josh Bungum from Paynesville.  Bungum isn’t big at 5-9 160 pounds but Johnnie Offensive Coordinator Jim Gagliardi really likes Bungum’s upside.  Rob Voshell is also expected to be a top target in the passing game for the Johnnies in 2012.

St. John’s was picked to finish 4th in the preseason MIAC coaches poll.  St. Thomas is picked to win the conference title.
