The Wolves took the Los Angeles Clippers down to the wire Wednesday night but a late LA run sent the Wolves to their tenth defeat in 11 games, 96-90 at Target Center.

Nikola Pekovic led the Wolves (17-25) with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Alexey Shved returned from injury to score 12 points on 5-13 shooting.

The Clippers (34-13) were led by Blake Griffin with 26 points on 11-17 shooting.

A testy first half that saw multiple technical fouls and the ejection of Clippers forward Matt Barnes ended with the Wolves trailing 52-48. The Timberwolves led 88-87 with three minutes remaining in the game but the Clippers used a 7-0 run to pull away.
