Cassadee Pope returns to The Voice on Monday night (April 2), ready to help Team Kelly contestants in hopes she'll have the Season 14 winner. It's only fair to remind her what it's like to win, right?

Pope — the Season 3 winner and now "Take You Home" singer — relived her winning moment from 2012, sharing what was going through her mind as the third place contestant was named and then, finally!, when host Carson Daly announced she'd won.

Spoiler alert: Pope wouldn't have bet on herself.

Nope, the rocker-turned-country-music-singer was counting on the other Team Blake member to be named the winner. She can smile about it all now, but the then-23-year-old looked simply petrified. And then she was petrified as her mother came spilling onto the stage.

Kelly Clarkson asked Pope to be a part of her team during the Knockout Rounds, which were first instituted during Season 3 and which the "Wasting All These Tears" singer says were the most stressful. She'll appear on The Voice this Monday and Tuesday and then again on April 9.

Her advice to these new singers? Pope can only recall what worked for her.

“I always say I know I was not the best singer on my season. I know that for a fact. But there is something that happens where you open up and you tell your story,” she tells Taste of Country. “Like I opened up about a few family things on my season, and I wasn't planning on it, but I was just so vulnerable during that experience. I was just very emotional that I let a few things out and as soon as I did I realized people just want to relate."

Pope will open up once again through new music. Her new single "Take You Home" is a song she says helped her escape the sadness after she broke up with her longtime boyfriend and split from her record label in 2017. There's more to come from those experiences, but know that modern-day Cassadee is quite happy. She recently shared that she and Nashville actor Sam Palladio are in a relationship!
