Carrie Celebrates 5 Years In Opry
Country superstar Carrie Underwood has seen much success since her ‘American Idol‘ days, with six gleaming Grammy awards to commemorate her career achievements. Underwood has also earned her way into country’s inner circle as a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and she is marking five years as a member of that iconic institution.
“It’s hard to believe that 5 years ago tonight, I was inducted into the Grand Ole @opry!” the singer tweeted Friday (May 10). “I am still so thankful to be a part of the family!”
Underwood was inducted into the Opry in May 2008 by Garth Brooks in front of a sold-out audience. Since then her star has continued to rise, making her one of country music’s most recognized performers with hits such as ‘Jesus Take the Wheel’ and her most recent single, ‘See You Again.’
Pete Fisher, Grand Ole Opry vice president and general manager, applauds Underwood’s success, saying, “Throughout the past five years, Carrie Underwood has become both a certified country music superstar and a beloved member of the Opry family. It’s been exciting to see Carrie experience career success after success, all the while returning often to the Opry stage to thrill audiences here.”
Country’s most famous stage will honor the powerhouse songstress for her five years as an Opry member on Friday, June 7, 2013. Underwood will celebrate with a special segment closing the evening’s Opry performance. In addition, special ticket packages — which include “fan zone” tickets to the performance, as well as an exclusive Carrie Underwood five-year anniversary t-shirt — will be available beginning Monday, May 6 while supplies last, with more ticket information here.
The singer continues to astound fans with an amazing set on her 2013 Blown Away Tour, which has sold out every date. It will be exciting to see what the next five years hold for Underwood!
