Big Changes for ‘Black Friday’ Shoppers

I don't know if there is anyone that loves shopping on 'Black Friday' more than I do, actually, I don't know if anyone loves shopping in general more than I do. But the changes some stores are making for this 'Black Friday' has me a little angry about one of my favorite days of the year.

Target made the announcement earlier this week and yesterday Macy's followed suit.  Two of the most popular shopping sites for 'Black Friday' shoppers will be opening their doors at midnight instead of the early morning hours they used to. And get this, Toys R Us (who opened at midnight last year) is now opening at 10PM Thursday night. So what is this becoming? 'Black Thursday'?

I get that everyone is trying to compete with one another to up their sales in this struggling economy, but don't they understand that opening in the middle of the night throws off my agenda. Ok, ok, I know these big corporate businesses don't care about me specifically, but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

How can they expect me to be able to shop for hours if I can't get at least a few hours of shut-eye before the craziness begins? Think about it, by the time you are finished with Thanksgiving dinner, help Mom do the dishes, watch some football, and get in some quality time with the nieces and nephews, it gets to be pretty late. By the time I get home there is no way I'll have enough time to get a few solid hours of sleep, so do I just slam a few cups of coffee and try stay up all night? I can't imagine that will go over well. By the time other stores start opening at 4 or 5 AM I'll be totally wiped out. But if I stick with my original agenda and wait until the early morning hours to start shopping, the super cool door busters will for sure be gone.

Maybe you think I'm crazy, or maybe you think it's not that big of a deal, but if you are a 'Black Friday' shopper who thinks they can pull off an all-night shopping event with out falling asleep on your over flowing shopping cart while waiting in line, I think you're the crazy one.

So unless you are 18 years old and pulling an all-nighter is no big deal because you are young and you can do that, please tell me how you are going to deal with the time adjustments this 'Black Friday'. I need all the recommendations I can get!
