St. Cloud State University announced Wednesday morning that they will eliminate six athletic programs following the 2015-16 season. The school also announced many teams will be forced to cut roster sizes.
The Cathedral Crusaders are headed to the state tournament for the seventh time in school history after a 10-2 win over Little Falls Thursday night at the MAC. Over 2,000 fans packed the arena to watch the final.
The Cathedral Crusaders will take on the Little Falls Flyers Thursday night at the MAC with the Section 6A title on the line. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on AM 1240 WJON, with pregame coverage at 6:45.
The third-seeded Sartell Sabres held off the Tech Tigers with a 7-4 win at Bernick's Arena. Matt Michaud registered a hat trick for the Sabres, and Cullen Chisholm had a goal and an assist. The game was tied at four early in the third period before the Sabres pulled away for the win.
