If you are a baseball fan in Central Minnesota, it simply does not get any better than Friday. With rain forcing the rescheduling of the NCAA Division II Central Regional at Joe Faber Field Thursday, the schedule for Friday is stacked with baseball games at multiple levels of competition.
The Apollo Eagles fell to the Elk River Elks 8-6 in the final game of the John Deyak Invitational Sunday night at Joe Faber Field. The game went into extra innings, with Elk River rallying for a pair of runs in the top of the eighth.
The Tech Tigers topped the Bemidji Lumberjacks 5-0 at Joe Faber Field Thursday night. Justin Mohs had a strong start for the Tigers, who scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal the win.
The Cathedral baseball team puts their winning streak on the line Thursday afternoon when they head down Highway 10 to take on the Becker Bulldogs. The Crusaders are currently the top-ranked team in Class AA.
