ST CLOUD - The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says they responded to two reports of vehicles breaking through the ice on Great Northern Lake in Wakefield Township on Saturday afternoon.

The first  report came in at 3:35 p.m. of an ATV that went through the ice. The driver, 42-year-old Bryce Egert Arlington, and his passenger 42-year-old Angela Baumgartner also of Arlington, were out ice fishing prior to the incident.

Both were helped out of the ice by a local homeowner and were checked by medical personal but refused treatment.

The second incident was reported at 4:15 p.m. on the same lake. Thirty-nine-year-old Travis Luepke of Arlington, was riding a snowmobile when it broke through the ice. Luepke says he was looking for family who were also on the lake.

Reports say that his family had also recently broken through the ice while riding their ATV. Luepke was checked by medical personal. The snowmobile is still submerged in the lake.

Crews from the Chain of Lakes rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the call.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office wants to remind everyone that the ice conditions on area lakes are deteriorating due to the recent warm weather.
