The Minnesota Twins (69-65) were shutout by the Houston Astros (74-61) 8-0 last night at Minute Maid Park. Fortunately for the Twins, Texas also lost -- but count that as a missed opportunity to pick up a game. Minnesota remains 1.5 games back from the final AL Wild Card spot.

Minnesota starter Mike Pelfrey has had trouble recently pitching deep into games, and it was the case again last night, as he lasted only four innings. The right-hander has been unable to reach the six-inning mark in five of his last six starts, and has a 6.35 ERA over that stretch.

Twins shortstop Eduardo Escobar saw his streak of scoring in 12 straight games come to an end. It tied Colorado's Nolan Arenado for the longest streak this year and was two games short of Kirby Puckett's team record of 14 straight.

The two teams go at it again tonight at 6:10 CT in Houston.

Go Twins!
