Fox just announced that it is cancelling "American Idol" after one more season. The regular cast will be the same but former judges and guests will be invited back. I'm actually kind of surprised that the show lasted this long. I'm a much bigger fan of NBC's "The Voice". I must confess that like most Americans, I stopped watching Idol years ago.

The show used to pull in about 31 million viewers at its peak. Last week's episode drew in less than seven million viewers.

The show consists of Ryan Seacrest, Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. I think that the show's days were numbered after Simon Cowell left.

Rumors are circulating that Ryan Seacrest's former co-host Brian Dunkleman might be back for the final season. Dunkleman recently tweeted, "I knew'American Idol' would never last without me.  #CANCELLED."

All good things must come to an end, and I think "American Idol" lasted a lot longer than most people thought it would. Let's just be happy for all of the great country music stars who were discovered through the show that continue to make amazing music. How are you reacting to the news?
