Katie and I absolutely love crafting! It's one of the most fun things to do on cold dreary days, especially in the fall. If you're looking for something fun and easy to do with the kids this weekend try out this festive craft. It's a Popsicle stick fridge magnet. We got all of our supplies from Crafts Direct in Waite Park.

    Gather your supplies

The supply list depends upon which stick design you decide to go with. I created a Frankenstein stick magnet and Katie went with a scarecrow.

    Supply list for Frankenstein:

    8 Popsicle sticks
    Green and black paint
    White paper
    Black sharpie
    Cardboard (from cereal box)
Glue (I used a hot glue gun)

    Supply list for scarecrow

    8 Popsicle sticks
Glue (Katie used a hot glue gun)
    Brown, yellow, white, orange paper
    Scissors
    Black/brown marker
    Brown paint

    Glue your sticks together

Start by gluing seven Popsicle sticks to a piece of cardboard. Katie and I used cereal box cardboard. Make sure to keep the sticks close together. You don't want spaces in between.

Paint and color the hat or hair

I outlined the shape of Frankenstein's hair before I started painting it black. Katie stenciled in the outline of her scarecrow's had before she started painting.

If you're working on the Frankenstein project, you'll want to paint the hair black. You could also use a black sharpie for the hair if you don't have paint. Next, you'll want to use green paint or maker to color his face.

If you're working on the scarecrow project, use black paint or marker for the hat.

    Create the face

Once that dries start cutting out Frankenstein's eyes. I took white paper and glued it to a piece of cardboard. I cut out two circles for the eyes and used a black sharpie to draw in the eyeball.

Katie used paper to create the flower for the hat, the eyes, hair and the nose.

    Glue on details

My project was really simple. I just glued a black Popsicle stick to Frankenstein's head to look like the bars that stick out of his neck.

Katie's project was a little more complicated. She used colored paper to make strands of hair for her scarecrow. She also painted white paper orange for the nose. She created her own flower out of construction paper to attach to her hat. She painted a Popsicle stick black and glued it to the hat to make it look like the rim.

    Glue on magnet

This step is pretty easy. I bought magnets with adhesive on the back. I used my hot glue gun to glue to magnet to the back of the stick project for extra hold.
