Maverick Ahanmisi scored 21 points to lead the Minnesota Golden Gopher men’s basketball team past High Point 88-81 Tuesday night in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Three other Gophers scored in double figures, with Joey King scoring 14 and Andre Hollins and Maurice Walker each adding 13.

The Gophers advance to the second round where they will play St. Mary’s at Williams Arena on Sunday. St. Mary’s beat Utah 70-58.
