A Birthday Party She’ll Never Forget

I have been dating Brittany for a little over two years after meeting in Luverne, MN, where I began my radio career. About eight months after dating, I began a new job in radio in Spirit Lake, IA... and although it was still early in our dating life, she packed up and moved in with me.

Fast forward to St. Cloud where we bought a house together and things have never been better, until this past Saturday.

Brittany's birthday was this last Friday (September 6) but we had a party planned with friends and family for Saturday night. I kept telling Britt that I spaced things out and forgot to get her a gift... I figured since I am a guy, it was a legitimate white lie, Brittany being an extremely easy going, fun person with a great heart, my white lie worked. She didn't even get upset, she just wanted to go out to eat and have some friends over.

That's exactly what we did.

We have some great friends who live in Granite Falls named Marci and Tom. Marci's mom owns a jewelery store and I called them for a HUGE favor.

Marci, her mom Vikki and Tom worked very hard to get Brittany's surprise ready by this past Saturday (Sept. 7) for her party.

They did it and below is what the surprise was.

Yup, I never saw that coming. I swore up and down that I would never be getting married and Brittany knew this the whole time we had been together and she was fine with it, but when you find somebody as great as I did, your mind easily changes and you're ready to make that huge commitment to be together forever.

For those of you curious... yes, I called and her dad (Gary) for his blessing before I asked her. The respectful thing to do in my eyes, BUT SCARY!!! He's a BIG guy!

SURPRISE! (I was SO nervous I thought I was going to pass out)

Relieved she said yes!
