Our July Veteran of the Month is U.S. Army National Guard Specialist Justin Doerfler. Thank you for serving our country!!

Justin joined us on 98 Country to talk about his career and accept his gift basket, we also talked to his buddy Jason Olson who nominated him.  We found out Jason was also a veteran and has done some great community work as well.

Justin has been deployed to Afghanistan.  He joined the Guard in 1997 as part of the 1st Combined Arms Battalion.  From 2003 to 2005 he was part of the Joint Force Headquarters at Camp Ripley.  He reenlisted in 2008 and was transferred to the 114th Transportation Company out of Chisol/Duluth.

He was nominated by his good friend, Jason, who says that being deployed changed Justin's life in every way possible.  Luckily,  Justin has a strong support system that includes the love of his life, Elodie.

Jason also had this to say about his friend:

Justin spends a lot of his time helping those in need, such as shoveling someone's sidewalk or mowing a neighbor's lawn.  Justin is the one you will find searching for someone in need of help during storms and rough times.  Justin also volunteers as an Assistant Ride Captain for the Minnesota Patriot Guard Riders and is a member of the Warrior Brotherhood.

He is selfless and worried about his community.  You can find Justin attending benefits and causes that help people.  If asked, he is the first person in line to help with no regard for compensation.

Last summer Justin attended a Red Friday Rally at the gates of Camp Ripley.  The rally shows support and respect for troops.  Serving his country and helping out in the community is what Justin has always loved to do and will continue loving it for many years to come.  Justin's family and friends love him very much and couldn't be more proud of him.

Thank you, Justin, for your service to this great nation!!
