98 Country December Veteran Of The Month: Army Ranger Doug Cyrus

This month 98 Country is honoring Doug Cyrus of Randall for his service in the United States Army.  Doug, thank you so much for your dedication to serving our country.

Doug was nominated by his daughter, Nicole, who had this to say about him:

I am nominating my father, Doug Cyrus, for Veteran of the Month because he deserves it. My dad joined the U.S. Army right out of high school. He completed Ranger school and then moved on to become apart of the 7th Group Army Special Forces as a sniper. He joined because we come from a family of military members and he did it not only out of respect for his family, but out of respect and love for our country.

After my dad completed his special forces training he was sent over to Honduras, where he was in a parachuting accident that left him hospitalized. My dad later found out he was not going to be able to return to do the duties which he loved. My dad was honorably medically discharged and was heartbroken by this news because all he wanted to do in life was protect his country.

I have seen my dad struggle with what happened to him during his military time, but you can see how proud he is to call himself a veteran. He is involved with Veteran's Day celebrations and keeps in contact with other veterans.

My dad deserves to be recognized for Veteran of the Month because not only did he sacrifice a lot for his country and is still dealing with troubles from his time in the military, he is the greatest father a daughter could ask for and I'm proud to say my that my dad is a veteran of the United States Army!

Doug's service and dedication to our country are admired and greatly appreciated. His continued work with veterans is nothing short of awesome! Doug, thank you for all you've done to protect the United States and for all you do to help your fellow veterans!
