  • Country singer Patsy Cline releases “I Fall to Pieces” and “Crazy” -- the success of those two songs helped her crossover from country to pop music

Crystal Gayle – “Too Many Lovers” -- 1981

 

Sam Hogin, Ted Lindsay and Mark True wrote this song.  Crystal Gayle recorded the song, it was her ninth number one hit.

  • The first American test-tube baby is born

Eddie Rabbitt – “You Don’t Love Me Any More”  -- 1978

 

 

Written by Alan Ray and Jeff Raymond, it became Eddie Rabbitt’s second number one country hit.

Waylon Jennings – “Will the Wolf Survive” -- 1986

 

 

A song released in May 1986 from the album of the same name, the song reached number five on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart.
