"Two Story House" is a duet recorded by George Jones and Tammy Wynette and written by David Lindsay, Glen Tubb and Tammy Wynette.  Released in February 1980 and reached number two on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart.

Merle Haggard - "Are the Good Times Really Over" -- 1982

 

 

Merle Haggard wrote and recorded this song.  It was released in May 1982 and the song peaked at number two on the country chart.

  • Tylenol capsules laced with potassium cyanide kill seven in Chicago.

Dolly Parton - "Here You Come Again" -- 1977

 

 

"Here You Come Again" is written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil and recorded by Dolly Parton.   The song topped the Country Singles Chart for five weeks.

IN THE NEWS IN 1977:

  • The precursor to GPS system in use today is started by the Defense Department.
  • The Medal of Freedom is awarded posthumously to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
  • A gallon of gas is 65 cents.

Tom T. Hall - "Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine" -- 1972

 

 

This song is written and recorded by Tom T. Hall.  It was released in 1972 from the album 'Storyteller.'  It peaked at number one.

IN THE NEWS IN 1972:

  • Gov. George C. Wallace of Alabama is shot by Arthur H. Bremer at a Laurel, MD political rally on May 15th.
  • President Nixon orders Christmas bombing of North Vietnam.
  • The compact disk is developed by RCA.

Anne Murray - "A Little Good News" -- 1983

 

 

Tommy Rocco, Charly Black and Rory Bourke wrote "A Little Good News" and recorded by Canadian Country Music artist Anne Murray.  It was a number one country hit on the country chart for a whopping 20 weeks.

IN THE NEWS IN 1983:

  • A terrorist explosion kills 237 US Marines in Beirut October 23rd.
  • The US invades Grenada in October
  • More than 125-million viewers tune into the last episode of M*A*S*H.
