Good morning and welcome to the 98 Country Classic Show on this February 8th.  We’re on air at 98.1 FM, online at 98country.com and on your mobile device.

Today we’re going to offer five of the most-requested songs from the radio show to enjoy after the broadcast.  It’s what I call an online bonus.  Today we’re featuring Roy Clark, Lorrie Morgan, Willie Nelson, a duet from Dan Seals and Marie Osmond and Shenandoah.

Willie Nelson – “On the Road Again” - 1980

“On the Road Again” is a song about life on tour.  Willie Nelson wrote and recorded the song, it became a number one hit, Nelson’s sixth as a solo artist. In November 1980, Nelson starred in his first leading role in the film, ‘Honeysuckle Rose” where the song was featured.  That same year, Ronald Reagan was elected President in a Republican sweep.

Woah, all I want is on the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again.

“Meet Me in Montana” is written by Paul Davis and recorded by Dan Seals and Marie Osmond as a duet.  It was released in July 1985 from the album, ‘Won’t Be Blue Anymore.’  This song reached number one on the Billboard Magazine Hot Country Singles Chart in October 1985.  This was the year relatively inexpensive laser printers and computers, tools for desktop publishing began to be commonly used.  Paul Davis did an excellent job on the lyrics of “Meet Me in Montana.”

Wrote my whole life down in an old book, songs about you and me, been singing to every soul in Tennessee.

Mac McAnally and Robert Bryne wrote this song and recorded by the country group Shenandoah.  It was released in August of 1989 from the album, ‘The Road Not Taken.’  It peaked at number one on Billboard's Hot Singles Country Chart.  Army General Colin Powell becomes the first black chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff about the time “Two Dozen Roses” was released.
