Shenandoah – “Next to You, Next to Me”

 

 

“Next to You, Next to Me” is written by Robert Ellis Orrall and Curtis Wright.  Recorded by Shenandoah, it was released in June 1990 from the album ‘Extra Mile.’  The song peaked at number one and stayed there for three weeks.

 


 

Randy Travis – “Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart”

 

 

This song is written by Hugh Prestwood and recorded by Randy Travis.  It was released in January 1990 from the album ‘No Holdin’ Back.’  In March of 1990 the song spent four weeks at number one on Billboard’s Hot Singles chart.

Since the day I was led to temptation and in weakness did let your love down. 

 


 

Lorrie Morgan – “Five Minutes”

 

 

“Five Minutes” is the title of a country song written by Beth Nielsen Chapman.  It was recorded by Lorrie Morgan in late 1989, off her debut album ‘Leave the Light On.’  Five minutes is a mid tempo song about the end of a failing relationship. 

You look so disbelieving at my suitcase by the door, my taxi on its way here.

 


 

Alabama – “Jukebox in my Mind”

 

 

This song was written by Dave Gibson and Ronnie Rogers and recorded by country group Alabama.  Released in July 1990 as the second single from their album ‘Pass it on Down,’ the song went all the way to number one. 

In the corner of my mind stands a jukebox, its playing all my favorite memories.

 


 

Patty Loveless – “Chains”

 

 

This song is written by Hal Bynum and Bud Reneau and recorded by Patty Loveless, distant cousin of Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gail.  “Chains:” was released in December of 1989 from the album ‘Honky Tonk Angel.’  “Chains” charted for 26 weeks on Billboard's Hot Country Chart reaching number one during the week of March 10, 1990. 

Bought a ticket to Seattle but I can’t get to the plane, every time I leave you I keep running out of chain.
