In country music we were listening to a duet from David Houston and Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Wynn Stewart, Tammy Wynette and Sonny James.

 


 

David Houston and Tammy Wynette – “My Elusive Dreams”

 

 

This song was written by Bill Sherrill and Curly Putman and has been recorded by several artists.  The best-known version is by David Houston and Tammy Wynette.  The song follows a very restless man and his wife as he attempts to find an ever-elusive and lasting happiness pursuing various dreams and schemes, which turn out to be ill-fated.  Wynette and Houston do an outstanding job singing this country classic.

I followed you to Texas, I followed you to Utah, we didn’t find it there so we moved on.

 


 

George Jones – “Walk Through This World With Me” 

 

 

Sandy Seamond and Kaye Savage wrote this song, recorded by country legend George Jones.  It was released in January of 1967 as the title track of his 24th album.  The song reached number one on the country chart in April of '67 and stayed at number one for two weeks.

Walk through this world with me, go where I go. 

 


 

Wynn Stewart – “It’s Such a Pretty World Today”

 

 

“It’s Such a Pretty World Today” was written by songwriter Dale Noe.  The song was from the album of the same name.  This album went to number one in September of 1967.  The title song was voted the "Song of the Year" and was certified Gold.  It was the biggest song of Wynn Stewart’s career.  The song peaked at number one on the country chart for two weeks in late spring of 1967.

It’s such a pretty world today look at the sunshine and every day’s the same since I met you.

 


 

Tammy Wynette – “I Don’t Wanna Play House”

 

 

“I Don’t Wanna Play House” is a song written by Billy Sherrill and Glenn Sutton in 1967.  This country classic hit became Tammy Wynette’s first number one country song as a solo artist.  “I Don’t Wanna Play House” spent three weeks at number one on the country chart.  This recording earned Wynette the 1968 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

Today I’ve sat alone at the window and I watched our little girl outside at play.

 


 

Sonny James – “I’ll Never Find Another You”

 

 

I’ll Never Find Another You” was a number one single in the United Kingdom by The Seekers in 1965.  The song also peaked at number four on the pop chart here in the states.  The tune received a 1967 revival as a country music number one hit by Sonny James, the song was written by Tom Springfield.

There’s a new world somewhere, they call the Promised Land and I’ll be there someday.
