Written by Kenny O’Dell, reaching number one on the country chart for the female duo.

In the news in 1984, a man shoots 20 dead and wounds 16 in a McDonald’s restaurant on July 18th in San Ysidro, California, by the year end more than 70 US banks fail and subway vigilante Bernhard Goetz shoots four black youths on a Manhattan subway.

Tanya Tucker – “Love me Like You Used To” -- 1987

 

This song is from the album of the same name.  Written by Paul Davis and Bobby Emmons, the song was released in July, a top ten hit at number two on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart.

In the news in 1987, the Disney Corporation and France agree to create an amusement park.  A rare earthquake, 5.0 on the Richter scale on June 11th affects 14 states in the Midwest and parts of Canada. And Woody Hayes, football coach at Ohio State dies March 12th.

In a cozy little restaurant for lovers, it seems so out of place for you and me, we used to play around under the covers.

 


 

 

John Anderson – “Seminole Wind” -- 1992

 

This song is written and recorded by John Anderson.  Released in 1992 peaking at number two on the country chart.

 

In the news in 1992, boxer Mike Tyson is convicted of the rape of Desiree Washington, August 24- 28 Hurricane Andrew hits south Florida and dissipates over the Tennessee Valley killing 65 and causing $26.5 billion in damage.

 

Ever since the days of old, men would search for wealth untold.  They’d dig for silver and for gold, and leave the empty holes.

 


 

 

Charly McClain – “Who’s Cheatin Who”-- 1981

 

This song became McClain’s first number one hit written by Jerry Hayes.

 

In the news in 1981, anti-nuclear protesters invade the Diablo Canyon nuclear reactor in California.  Muhammad Ali finally retires with a career record of 55 wins and 5 defeats, and MTV is launched on cable television in the United States on August 1st.

 

Everywhere you look, you can write a book on the trouble with a woman and a man, but you cannot impose, you can’t stick your nose into something that you don’t understand.

 


 

 

Gene Watson – “Love in the Hot Afternoon” -- 1975

 

One of the most requested Gene Watson songs on the 98.1 Country Classic Show, written by Vince Matthews and Kent Westbury.  A top ten hit reaching number three on the country chart.

 

In the news in 1975, Volkswagen introduces its new front wheel drive economy car in the US and Canada as the Volkswagen Rabbit, “AM America” makes its television debut on ABC television, today known as “Good Morning America.”
