This song is written by Don Rollins and made a hit by George Jones in 1965 peaking at number three.  Sawyer Brown covered the song in 1989 topping the charts at number five.

Barbara Mandrell – “I Was Country when Country wasn’t Cool” -- 1981

 

 

A number one hit for Barbara Mandrell featuring a guest appearance by George Jones.  The song was written by Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan.

In the news in 1981:

Sammy Kershaw – “She don’t know She’s Beautiful” --  1993

 

 

Paul Harrison and Bob McDill wrote this song.  It became Sammy Kershaw’s only number one country hit.

This song was Patti  Loveless’ second career number one hit from the album “Honky-Tonk Angel” written by Hal Bynnum and Bud Reneau.
