The Bellamy Brothers – “Redneck Girl” -- 1982

David Bellamy wrote the song and it topped the chart at number one.

This song is co-written by B.W. Stevenson and Daniel Moore.  Brooks and Dunn released a cover version of the song in March of 1996.

A single written by the late great Merle Haggard topping the chart at number one.

• James Earl Ray pleaded guilty to the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King in Memphis, Tennessee and was later sentenced to 99 years in jail; Ray later repudiated that plea
• Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34^th President of the US dies at Walter Reed General Hospital at age 78

George Jones – “Who’s Gonna fill their Shoes” -- 1985

From the album of the same name, a song written by Troy Seals and Max Barnes scoring a number three hit for George Jones.
