9 Things You Can’t Miss at the Minnesota State Fair
I am a huge fan of the Minnesota State Fair. Deep fried food, animal barns and knowing the exact location of every food booth is my specialty. I went down last night for the Demi Lovato/Nick Jonas concert and thought I would share with you the 9 things I think are “must-do’s” at the State Fair!
Indulge in a fair classic! Its just not the fair without cheese curds! And yes I dip them in ketchup like a true Minnesotan.
Take a ride down the Giant Slide! Don’t let the constant mile-long line scare you away. It goes fast and is so worth it! Make it a competition and race your friends. Last one down buys the next round of drinks!
Catch a live news cast! There are countless news stations around the fair that do their shows live all day everyday. Take a break from walking and catch the evening news. They often throw free stuff into the crowd!
Try something new! I am the person that makes lists and maps of the new food every year and strategically routes my trip to optimize my new food consumption. I love new fair food and look forward to it every year! Last year Chad’s daughter got loaded potato skins that looked ~*aMaZiNg*~.
High-five Fairchild! Fairchild is the chipmunk fair mascot that was debuted on August 31st, 1966. Find Fairchild at the fair and wish him a Happy 51st Birthday with a high-five!
Catch a State Fair Grandstand Show! Demi Lovato blew me away last year. She was an incredible performer and the Grandstand was the perfect place to see her. We were all the way up in the nosebleeds and the view and sound was still awesome! To see a list of the shows that are happening this year, click here!
Toss a corn cob! Half the fun of indulging in the corn roast is throwing the cob in the big recycling bin after you’re finished. 10/10, would recommend.
Take selfies with the animals! I have yet to talk to a kid in 4-H that won’t let people take pictures with their projects. Llama selfies for everyone! Also I think I need a llama now.
Take a quick nap! Taking on the Minnesota State Fair is a big task. Sometimes a quick nap is in order to re-charge the batteries. Find a shaded area and pull over for a quick 15-minutes!
