Let's be honest, we all tell a little white lie to make ourselves seem better than we are every once-in-awhile. I've embellished the truth a few times for the sake of getting that super hot guy to like me. I'm not the only one.

A new survey found that 61 percent of people say they've lied on a first date. Is it really that surprising? I think what's more interesting is the most common lies told on first dates.

The most common lie told by a woman on a her first date is her age. Women tend to take off three to five years from their actual age. I guess this has always confused me. If you think your first date could actually turn into something serious, wouldn't your date find out your age eventually?

The most common lie told by a man on his first date is how much money he makes. The survey found that men tend to embellish the truth and make it seem like they make about 20 percent more money than they actually do.

Fourty-four percent of people say they fess up to their lies after the third date. What's shocking is 25 percent of people never come clean. So, maybe we should take the lies as compliments--your date is just trying to impress you.

Next time you go out on a first date remember that the woman you're with is actually three to five years older than she says and the man you're with actually makes 20 percent less than he's saying.
