Sartell's 33rd annual Apple Duathlon kicks off this weekend at Sartell Middle School. About 500 athletes are expected to participate in the competition that stretches between Sartell and St. Stephen.

The Kid's Apple Duathlon is set for 5:50 p.m. on Friday, May 22 at Pine Meadow Elementary School. There are three different courses set for various age groups. All children are required to have a bike and a helmet. Training wheels are not permitted.

The Apple Duathlon gets underway at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23. The course is a standard short course duathlon: 5k run--33k bike--5k run.
