This was my first time attending the Relay For Life event. And it was pretty awesome.

My morning show partner, Pete, is a 2-time cancer survivor. And he is the reason I decided to check out the Relay For Life this year. But once I got there, and started walking around the track, it really hit home, just how many people I know who have been affected by cancer. Too many to count, really.

My nephew Chris found out in February that he has leukemia. Just two hours before I left for the event on Friday, I found out another friend, Kathy, was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma. An old school friend, Mike, is fighting cancer in several areas of his body. My friends Doug and Karleen have a son, Ethan, who has been battling cancer since he was a child. The list goes on.

That's why events like the Relay For Life are so important. Each year, over 4 million people in 20 different countries raise money for the American Cancer Society through the Relay For Life movement. It's an event that celebrates what survivors have overcome and remembers the people we've lost.

Please consider joining us next year in taking part in this amazing event!
