The team at OnlyInYourState.com has digested last year's Minnesota Unified Crime Report compiled by the Minnesota BCA and the FBI to determine the 10 Most Dangerous Places in Minnesota After Dark -- and some may surprise you. Here's what they had to say:

#10 - St. Paul, MN

Sure it's home to the Minnesota Wild, but we're not talking about cross-checking. St. Paul is tied with Mankato with the highest rates of racially motivated crimes, and leads the state in crimes tied to sexual orientation. What's with all the hate St. Paul?

#9 - Pine County, MN

I mean have you ever been to Pine City? (Just kidding.) But in all seriousness, Pine County has the highest rate of burglaries in the state -- at a rate of 989 per 100,000 per year, higher than Minneapolis.

#8 - Bemidji, MN

We're #2, were #2! Bemidji is second only to Waite Park when it comes to number of violent crimes per capita in the Land of 10,000 assaults Lakes.

#7 - Waite Park, MN

Ok, what? Their report says that WP has the highest rate of what they call 'Part I' crimes (rape, murder, robbery, and other violent offenses) -- more than twice the rate of Murderapolis. Another nugget; WP has the highest human trafficking rate in Minnesota with a rate of 133 report per 100,000 people.

#6 - Rock County, MN

Ok, so where the heck is Rock County? It's in extreme southwestern Minnesota (just miles from Sioux Falls, SD). Luverne is the biggest city in the county, which boasts the highest rate of aggravated assault at 777 per 100,000 people.

#5 - Floodwood, MN

Maybe they're just trying to stay warm up there between Grand Rapids and Duluth, but come on man! Bloodwood leads the state in arson cases, with 190 reports for every 100,000 people. Walk away from the matches.

#4 - Breitung Township, MN

Ok, where? In northern St. Louis County of course. Have a car? Lock it! They lead the state with an average of 820 vehicle thefts per 100,000 people (and the population's only 610).

#3 - Minneapolis, MN

Sure 'Minnesota Nice' is real, but some people didn't get the memo. The City of Lakes leads the state in robberies with 459 per 100,000 people.

#2 - Olivia, MN

This Renville County town just south of Willmar has the highest number of rapes per 100,000 people in Minnesota at 255.

#1 - Granite Falls, MN

This southwestern Minnesota town reported the highest murder rate of any other city in the state. With a rate of 33 murders per 100,000 people -- well above the national average of 4.5 murders per 100,000 people.

And hey, let's be careful out there.
